No Mistakes...Only Choices

If you were to ask me several years ago what I thought about regrets in life, I would have a long list. This list comes from a place of believing that making mistakes somehow does irreparable damage to your life path. I certainly thought I had blown my chances and that because of all my perceived mistakes, my life would never be as successful or as happy or as fruitful as it could have been if I hadn't made my mistakes. I used it as a weapon against myself to continually torture my mind with self-depreciating thoughts and judgements that held me down and didn't allow me room to grow. It suffocated me.

Ask me the same question now about what I think of having regrets and my answer is very different. I have come to understand that what we choose in life is nothing more than a simple choice. It's not earth-shattering and it's consequences are not so devastating as I once thought. There's enough destruction and demise going on in the world now without adding to it with our own annhialiation. In fact, the destruction we see in the world around us, I believe, is a direct result of the self-destruction we engage inside ourselves. If we expect to have a positive experience of life, then it starts with an acceptance of the choices we make. Choose carefully, choose wisely, and once you make your choice, be willing to look at it square on and see the value in having made this particular choice. There are no mistakes, just an array of choices, each of which will offer us a different gift and different way of experiencing life.
